The story

It is December 1811. Mr. Bingley is gone, Jane’s hopes are gone with him, and all Meryton knows Mr. Darcy for the worst of men. Then a small parcel comes to Longbourn at breakfast, with a note in a young lady’s hand, and Mrs. Bennet reads it aloud. Her brother, it appears, has seldom heard anything which pleased him so well as Miss Elizabeth’s singing.

By Thursday Elizabeth has been wished joy by half the county. By Friday Mr. Darcy is at Netherfield to contradict it. They tell everybody the plain truth, and nobody believes a word. Mr. Collins has gone to tell Lady Catherine. It is five days to Christmas.

With Miss Darcy’s Compliments is a clean, low-angst, comic Pride and Prejudice variation novella of about 20,500 words, an afternoon’s read, set at Christmas, with a happy ending for Darcy and Elizabeth. It stands alone.
